New High Quality HD
Ok by now you probably received an email with some new settings for HD encoding…and as far as I can tell it seems to work fine for most of you who have an up to date computer with a good internet connection….BUT I hear some complaints here and there;)
Let’s be clear from the beginning this is not meant to be a pain in your ass, this is meant to give users a better streaming experience and a better experience means more happy people in the world;) So it should benefit everybody.
Now you might have some little issues wether it’s audio or video. First of all, let’s see if you can provide a good quality, smooth stream. Try to do a little speediest here. To make sure you have an accurate reading, do it twice at least. If your upload number is less than 1Mbp/secons consistently there’s a chance that your connection won’t be that smooth. Yes I know you probably read that .6Mbp/second should be enough. YES theoretically but the higher the number the better.
If internet is fine let’s go to step 2 and let’s see what type of computer you have. If your processor is not recent, your computer might be too old. I know it’s only 1 or 2 years old…well, in computer years it’s VERY old. I know what you’re gonna ask: what do you suggest? I’m a Mac person so I will definitely suggest a Mac but I understand that it’s quite an investment. My next choice will be to go for the cheapest. After all your brand new computer in 3 months will be outdated! Dell seems to have some pretty good deals so why not go that route and upgrade more often when there’s newer faster processors.
I almost forgot your webcam. That is also an important part of your HD streaming experience. An HD cam is definitely a must have and these days you can find pretty cheap options with the Logitech series under $100.
Let’s make it very clear here. Not updating your HD settings will impact your placement on the site. Why? because we are in 2012 and if you want to enjoy HD channels on your TV you have to have an HD tv and you have to have the HD receiver with your cable company…you can still watch your favorite program but if you want to watch it in HD you will need all that…and sports fans definitely have the whole HD everything…and probably your fans as well. So you should definitely give what they want: a smooth, clear, high definition experience….because they worth it;)
